You Are

You are my fortune, and you are my joy,
Enhancing, enriching my life,
You are the spices that I employ,
To flavor my days and my nights,

You are my dusk, and you are my dawn,
The nectar whose sweetness I sip,
You are my beauty, you are my swan,
I savor your sensuous lips,

So when life is over and I breathe my last,
And when it is time to depart,
I’ll be deeply grateful that you are my past,
You kept the song in my heart.

First Kiss

I’ll remember that first kiss,
A soft and silky memory,
‘Til hidden in time’s cloudy mists,
Yet sweet her love will always be.

Poetry

Byron, Shelly, Lords of verse,
Transforming life with poets’ words,
Like gardeners sowing seeds of love,
And reaping beauty from Above.

Moonlight

How softly does the velvet moonlight cast its golden glow,
How dreamily the music of our whispers soft and low,
How fervent is our passion in the stillness of the night,
What harmony and joy do fill us when our love is right.

Her Hands

Watching her silky, loving hands,
My heart pounds;
I asked for love,
And she is the answer to my prayers.

Wind

A blue-wailing wind blows,
Dirges whisper benedictions in the night,
Love etches truth to you and me.

Waves

As lovers upon deep seas sail,
Spirit spreads its silky veil,
Its gentle motion love compels,
And o’er them waves of passion swell.

Reckless Madness

A reckless madness has me reeling,
Eyes are fiery, burning hot,
With desire my soul is panting,
Reason stifled, sense forgot.

Silence

Lonely silence, vast gray sky,
Egret white comes floating by,
The omen breaks the reverie,
The end is closer now, and peace.

Dogma's Fountains

Beware of dogma’s bloody fountains,
Hindus, Hebrews, Muslims, Christians,
True believers screaming wrath,
Harvest hate and war – and death.

Starlight

With fervor and concupiscence,
Yet luminous and pure,
The starlight brings a lover's muse,
Romantic dreams and fire.

Loving You

Lovers’ moons and lovers’ stars,
Quiet nights and firelight sparks,
Loving close and loving deep,
Entangled bodies, warm, and sleep;

Golden mornings, birds that sing,
Hand-held walks by trickling streams,
Gentle breezes, glistening dew,
Happy days of loving you.

Refugee

A refugee, filled with dreams,
Wide-eyed, frightened, alien scene,
New adventures, strange new land,
A friendly smile, a helping hand,
Comfort growing, slowly, then,
At home at last, the journey’s end.

Faded Garden

Memories are faded, dreams now forgotten,
Bench made of wood, now moss-covered, rotting,
Garden once blooming is now overgrown,
Roses now thorns, the summer is done,
A once-lovely garden, but love now is gone.

Last of Life

No more striving to achieve,
No more angst, anxiety,
Accept with equanimity,
The role He gives His Son;
Safe at last, beyond the strife,
We reach the latter part of life,
When peace and calm have come,
Rewards for work well done.

Mind of God

In that fleeting comprehension,
When we know the vast dimension,
Wonderments and awe abound,
Love and joy are all around,
Time and earth and heaven fade,
Awareness of our Truth is raised,
And we return as we had gone,
Within the mind of God, as One.

Remains

Standing ‘round the marble headstone,
Last good-bye to one we had known,
Coffin lowered in the ground,
Silent whispers, muted sounds,

Parting words are said, and then,
Covered grave and flowers strewn,
Rites are done, all that remains,
Dates of birth and death, and name.

A Wedding

A pealing bell, with great aplomb,
Announces man and wife are one,
Almighty God, this day we pray,
Please let misfortune stay away,
And let their love, forever true,
Be spent in happiness with You.

Phantom

Oh Phantom, use your magic schemes,
Invade her soul, pervade her dreams,
Make her subservient to your might,
Infuse her mind with love’s delight,
And with your power so inflame,
That she will wake and call my name.

The Guide

Thinking, understanding more,
Now I wonder nevermore,
Who is calling at my door,
It’s You I’m hearing as before,
Guiding safely to the shore,
Giving joy forevermore.

Candlelight

Candles flicker in the darkness,
Casting shadows in the night,
Eyes that sparkle, skin is golden,
Glowing in the burnished light

Lovers coo and softly whisper,
Gentle kiss and warm desire,
Moistened lips with dewy luster,
Hearts are racing, souls on fire.

Photographs

Portraits of antiquity,
Photographs in sepia,
Torn and faded memories,
Happy faces, smiling, free,
Faces of obscurity.

The Cloister

Her gentle smile and countenance,
Her peaceful manner, self-effaced,
She communed with her heavenly muse,
And lived in quiet solitude.
